Camping at 4Rung on Barnong Station (circa June 1982)
Back when I was younger I used to go camping in the ‘station country’ semi-regularly.
A place that I camped at on at least three occasions was a place we knew as 4Rung (or maybe Four Rung).
Four Rung had previously been used, many years before (at least 50 years before), as a camp site by a small mining community that tried to find gold in the nearby hills.
The following picture was taken relatively early in the morning—you tend to get up a lot earlier in the morning when you are camping—overlooking the Four Rung test shaft. It was taken facing to the ESE (east south east).
Our camp can just be seen in the top left of this shot.
Here is a closer look at one of the test shafts at Four Rung.
Here is a shot of the camp. There will be another vehicle somewhere because we never went out into the station country unless there were at least two vehicles.
