Mensland, Harper Agencies, and The Morawa Garden Nursery (1982)

I came across this picture after I had complete the previous post. Had I found it prior to that I would likely have included it with the previous post.

This slide scan shows:

  • Thornton’s Morawa Drapery/Mensland—which was previously Ross Bros (Pat and Sandy Ross).

  • Robert Harper Agencies, incorporating Wesfarmers. This building includes the building space (on the left looking at the picture) that was once Arnold James’ newsagency, which later became McIlwaine’s Newsagency.

  • What was Morawa’s bakery (which actually consisted of a smaller store and the main bakery store), but at the time of this picture was The Morawa Garden Centre (and nursery).

The building to the very left in the picture is/was the Chemist.

I am reasonably confident this was taken in 1982 because the Kodak slide is stamped ‘82. Although this only means it was processed in 1982, I think it can be safely assumed that was also the year the shot was taken.
