Old Geraldton Railway Station

Following is an early morning picture of the old Geraldton Railway Station that I took on my recent visit up that way.

This panorama is two shots merged together. It is 8,000 pixel wide.

Pixel peepers will notice there is a bit of camera shake. I broke the golden rule of multi-shot panoramas and did not use my tripod. Tch tch.

It is also at 3200 ISO so there is tiny bit of digital noise noticeable when at full size.

Passenger train services from Perth to Geraldton ceased around about the early 1970s.

Sadly, I never got to make the train trip from Perth to Geraldton, but my father did part of that trip at least twice that I know of. He did not start the trip from Perth. From my faded memory I am reasonably sure he boarded the train at Three Springs.

I am not sure what businesses are housed here now but during the weekdays there are a lot of cars parked at the station. Hence, to get a shot with less cars I had to take an early morning shot.
