HP Announces Spectre 14” 3:2 x360 with 11th Gen Intel

On Monday HP announced their latest Spectre X360 model and it sounds like a great laptop computer for people like me who do a lot of work using photo editing tools—mainly Adobe’s Photoshop and Skylum’s amazing Luminar.

Even though my DELL Inspiron 8th Gen i7 16GB unit that I purchased about three years ago was ‘fast’ when I got it, as the size of RAW photo image files has grown it is now taking longer than I like to open, edit, and save images.

Also, for photo editing the 16:9 screen ratio that was so popular a couple of years ago is less than ideal. The 3:2 ratio that Microsoft has always used is much more preferable for a ‘professional’ or work computer. Even when it come to browsing the Web, the longer 3:2 screen format it a much better idea. Ditto when working on a Word document.

You can check all the numerous specifications of the 2020 Spectre x360 14 on the Web, but the key one for me is the use of Intel’s latest 11th Generation ‘Tiger Lake’ processors and embedded graphics engine.

All other components being equal (i.e., 16GB RAM, SSD hard drive, etc), going from an 8th Gen 4 core i7 to an 11th Gen 4 core i7 should provide a performance improvement in the order of thirty percent.

Now … to wait until Cyber Monday at the end of November to see how cheap I can pick one up.

You can find out more about the new HP Spectre at Windows Central.
