Semi-famous “Gate of Boots”—No longer there

Back in 2015 on the 18th of November I did a post about the semi-famous gate of boots on the South Western Highway. That post is here.

Yesterday my niece and I took a drive up the South Western Highway to Pinjarra just for a drive. Just for something to do. We ended up having a coffee and tea at the Dome in Pinjarra.

However, on the way up I planned to show Kim, my niece, the semi-famous gate of boots—as I tended to refer to it when talking about it. Incredibly she had never seen it. I thought just about everybody in Perth had seen the gate of boots.

I am sad to report that the gate of boots no longer exists.

Well, the gate, or gates, is/are still there. But all the shoes and boots that used to hang on the gate have been removed.

I have no idea when this happened except that it would obviously have been sometime after the 18th of November, 2015. In fact, as you will read later, it has to have been sometime after June 2017.

Presumably either the property changed hands and the new owners were not fans of having all those old boots and shoes on the gates, or the existing owners maybe got tired of people—like me—stopping there to take pictures all the time.

Because this well-known feature of the South Western Highway is no longer there I felt the need to post a few pictures of it so that people who missed out on seeing it can still see some more pictures of it.

I will start with my original picture as posted back in 2015 in the article linked in the opening paragraph.

All images will show larger when clicked on—for those who are using a browser on a larger screen.

Following are a few other photographs taken at the same time as the one above—i.e., November 2015.

The following few pictures were taken in June of 2017. So, the gate of boots still existed at that date.
