Battle of the Smartphones: Red SIII vs. iPhone 5
Over the last six months sales of Samsung’s smartphones have blitzed Apple’s iPhone sales, with sales of the Sumsung SIII in the last three months more than doubling iPhone sales. In the second quarter of 2012 Samsung sold a massive 52 million smartphones.
Sometime soon Samsung are tipped to release the red SIII, which actually looks more like a glossy dark pink than red. But that might just be the colour balance of the pictures on the Web.
Maybe it is more red than it appears in these pictures.
But it would seem that Apple are about to announce the new iPhone, which may, or may not—you never know with Apple—be called the iPhone 5.
I don’t like to repost rumours about Apple gear because you almost always end up looking silly. But if you can believe the main rumours on the Web then:
- The new iPhone has a new connector and you will need a connector adaptor to use any of your ‘old’ docks, chargers, and other gear with the new phone.
- The screen is rumoured to be 4” (the current screen is 3.5”). This will leave it smaller than the Galaxy SII (which was 4.5”) and, obviously, smaller than the Galaxy SIII which is 4.8”.
- The aspect ratio of the screen changes from 3:2 to 16:9 making the screen taller (longer) than the current iPhone screen.
- A camera upgrade is also being rumoured so the camera quality is competitive with the SIII and the HTC One.
At this stage the popular timing for the release of the new iPhone is the second week of September, but like I said before, you just never know with Apple.
