Titbit: School Vandalism in WA Costs $6.6M in 2011
The cost of vandalism at Western Australian schools increased by about 30 percent in 2011 compared to 2010. It went up from $97,000 per week to close to $127,000 per week.
So in 2011 $127,000 per week came out of school budgets to fix up or clean up the results of vandalism.
That works out to $6,600,000 for the year—here in little old laid-back Western Australia.
What is our population these days here in this biggest state by area in Australia? Something around 2.2 million people?
The obvious questions are:
- Why is there so much vandalism happening in school grounds?
- Why did it increase by 30 percent in just one year?
I don’t have any answers but I thought it might be useful to ask the questions
I wonder how many more teachers we could have employed with $6.6M?
