How to get the full sized image from a SquareSpace-based Web site

All images (photographs, screen grabs, drawings, etc.) on a SquareSpace Web page are saved away by SquareSpace in seven sizes. When you go to a SquareSpace Web site using your favourite browser (e.g., Chrome, Edge, Opera, FireFox, Brave, Safari, etc.) the browser will display the size version of the image that best suits your device.

Hence, if the device you are using is an 8” iPad then the browser (most likely Safari on an iPad) will display the image size that best fits the 8” display.

If the device you are using is a 5” smartphone, again, the browser will display the image size best suited to that display.

Same again if you are using a 15” Windows-based PC. The browser will get the image that best fits into the browser window.

However, in some cases, for whatever reason, you might want to get the largest version of the image that SquareSpace has saved away for that Web page.

While I am sure there is some way to do this on a tablet or smartphone, the only method I know that works is on a Windows-based PC.

How to do this on a Windows-based PC

On a Windows-based PC simply right-click on the image and select “Save Image As …”. Then save the image somewhere on your computer where you can find it again.

The file that is saved will be the largest size of the image that SquareSpace has available, which, in some cases, might not be any bigger than the version displayed in the browser. But, if a larger version is available then the file saved will be the largest highest resolution version SquareSpace has available.

To view the image you will now need to open it using an image viewer, which, in most cases, can be achieved by simply double-clicking on the saved image file.

If you intend printing the saved image then I recommend you use Photoshop if you have it available.
