Sony's a7r IV best camera for landscape photographers

The premier camera and gadgets site on the Web, dpreview (here), has declared Sony’s a7r IV as the best full frame landscape camera money can buy for 2019/2020.

With a retail price of $5,500 just for the body I won’t be rushing to buy this unit. I will be sticking with my a7r III for the time being.

Admittedly, the specifications are stunning.

The a7r IV has Sony’s amazing 61.2MP sensor and 567 site phase detection focusing

Even with the massive 61.2MP sensor, this camera can still shot at 10 frames per second at full density.

Video is at a full ‘pure’ 4K. No pixel filling going on here..

Obviously the Mark IV uses Sony’s new Z series battery, giving this camera well over 500 shots before a battery swap is required.

And, if you have a tri-pod with you then you can use Sony’s pixel-shift technology to take a 240MP shot.

On the downside, a single RAW image from the Mark IV is about 120MB. A medium compression JPG is around 35MB.

But look at this resolution. First the full shot.

And this is the girl’s eye at 1:1.

Impressed? I sure was.

You would have no trouble making 30” x 20” 220dpi canvas prints with this camera. Even if you needed to crop quite a bit into the shot.

But, at $5,500 it is too much for me.
